Track & Field Posts 10 Top-8 Finishes at Season-Opening Meet

ALLENDALE, Mich. -- Central Michigan posted 10 top-eight finishes on Friday as it opened the indoor track & field season at the Grand Valley State Holiday Open at the Kelly Family Sports Center.Â

The Chippewas got a third-place finish from Emma Fountain in the 800-meter run. She finished with a time of 2:14.80.Â

Two CMU teams finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 4x400-meter relay. Fountain combined with Amelia Gouin, Nicole Olivieri, and Grace Jenkins to finish sixth with a time of 4:03.44. Finishing close behind were CMU's Emma Francis, Annie Laurenz, Jaci Rife, and Jericha Petrella, coming in with a time of 4:03.84.

Tricia Pierce secured a sixth-place finish in pole vault for the Chippewas with a height of 3.5 meters. Â
The Chippewas' Peyton Korytkowski placed seventh in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.66 seconds.Â
Jessie Gibbins finished eighth in the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:04.20.Â

The Chippewas also saw strong performances in the weight throw, with Mahogany Wells throwing 17.80 meters and finishing in fourth place. Aliyah Boeve finished in sixth place, throwing 16.75 meters.Â

In Shot Put Wells finished in fifth place with a 13.17-meter throw. Emily Mclean finished in seventh place with a 12.99-meter throw. Â

The Chippewas are scheduled to compete on Jan. 14 at the Falcon Early Bird Open in Bowling Green, Ohio.Â
