CMU Women Fall at Miami

OXFORD, Ohio – Miami (Ohio) made all six of its free throw attempts in the final 2:48 and finished 27 of 32 from the line on Saturday in handing Central Michigan a 77-68 loss in a Mid-American Conference women's basketball game at Millett Hall.
The Chippewas slipped to 4-15, 2-6 MAC. They entertain Toledo on Wednesday, Feb. 1 (7 p.m.) and then play host to Eastern Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 4 (1 p.m.).
Sydney Harris scored 24 points and Taylor Anderson added 14 points and a career-high-tying 13 rebounds to lead the Chippewas, who committed 18 turnovers in the game.
It marked the third consecutive game in which Harris, a freshman who made five of her eight 3-point attempts, has scored 20-plus points.
Anderson's point total was one shy of her career best and it marked the second straight game in which she has grabbed 13 boards.
Peyton Scott scored 23 points to lead Miami (8-13, 3-5).
CMU led, 35-34, with under a minute to play in the first half. The RedHawks scored the final five points of the half for a 39-35 lead at the break.
The Chippewas never led in the final two quarters, but kept it a one- or two-possession game throughout most of the second half. They trailed, 69-65, with under three minutes to play after Harris hit her fifth triple of the game.
Ivy Wolf, who scored 16 points, hit two free throws with 2:48 to play to make it 71-65. CMU never got closer than five points the rest of the way, managing just one more field goal, a Nadége Jean layup with 53 seconds left, in the final three minutes.
