ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Alyssa Vandegriff tied for second in the high jump and Jaci Rife posted two top-eight finishes on Friday to lead the Central Michigan track & field team at the Silverston Invitational at U-M Indoor Track.

The Chippewas posted eight top-eight finishes in the meet, which served as their final tuneup ahead of the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships, which are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24-25, at Bowling Green's Perry Fieldhouse.

Vandegriff posted a top jump of 1.58 meters (5 feet, 2 ¼ inches) in tying for second in the high jump, while Rife finished sixth in the long jump at 5.01 meters (16-5 ¼) and was eighth in the 400-meter run (1:03.14).

CMU's Emma Francis placed fourth in the 400 (59.59), while the Chippewas' Emma Fountain was fourth and Alexis Gourrier finished eighth in the 800. Fountain came in at 2:13.92; Gourrier in 2:15.39.

The Chippewas got sixth-place finishes from Jessie Gibbins in the mile and from Emily McLean in the shot put. Gibbins posted a 5:08.44 clocking, while McLean's best toss measured 13.34 meters (43-9 ¼).
