Women’s Basketball Drops 82-56 Result at No. 19/20 Iowa State

Three freshmen land in double-figures; Lawson leads game in assists (7), Chippewas in rebounds (6)
AMES, Iowa — Central Michigan Women's Basketball fell to No. 19/20 Iowa State Sunday afternoon in the Hilton Coliseum, 82-56, after it won three of its previous four games.
The freshmen trio of Jayda Mosley (Cincinnati, Ohio / Purcell Marian), Ayanna-Sarai Darrington (Lexington, Ky. / Frederick Douglass) and Madi Morson (Canton, Mich. / Salem) each eclipsed double-digits, with Mosley sneaking into the team's high of 11 points with a pair of three-pointers in the fourth quarter.
Senior guards Jess Lawson (Las Vegas, Nev. / Legacy) and Lisa Tesson (Montréal, Québec / Royal Crown) combined for 12 assists, 11 rebounds. Lawson set the game-high at seven assists, led the Chippewas with six off the glass.
Darrington stepped up in the opening quarter to lead CMU with seven points, with a 3-for-3 mark from the field and converted a three-point play against 2024 AP All-America Honorable Mention Audi Crooks.
Morson took the court to start the second quarter to match Darrington's first-quarter output with success in mid-range shooting. Both Morson and Darrington reached their 10th point in the third quarter.
Mosley led a fourth-quarter charge with a pair of threes in a 12-2 run for the Chippewas, part of a 5-for-8 quarter for CMU from beyond the arc.
Central Michigan Women's Basketball will stay on the road to visit Dayton next Sunday (Dec. 15) before its return to McGuirk Arena Dec. 22 to host Milwaukee as its final contest before the new year.
