Luciana Alvarado-Reid has been named Second Team All-MAC, the league announced Tuesday.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Luciana Alvarado Reid of Central Michigan Gymnastics has earned Second Team All-MAC honors for her all-around performances in the 2024 season, the conference announced on Tuesday.
This is the first All-MAC award for the Cartago, Costa Rica sophomore, who was named MAC Freshman of the Year in 2023.
Alvarado-Reid finished the season ranked 2nd in the league and 45th nationally in the all-around with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 39.335 after her performance against Western Michigan, where she tied her career-high 39.525 score.
Alvarado-Reid's career-best 39.525 is the 5th-highest all-around score in program history. She first attained the score on Feb. 24 vs. Kent State, for which she earned MAC Gymnast of the Week honors.
The sophomore was named MAC Gymnast of the Week for a second time on Tuesday, after achieving the feat once more in the Chippewas' regular season finale win over the Broncos.
Through the season, Alvarado-Reid has additionally set career-best marks on three events; she scored 9.950 on the uneven parallel bars on Feb. 24 against Kent State, landed a 9.900 on the balance beam on March 15 against Western Michigan, and scored 9.925 on the floor exercise on Feb. 4 at the Bowling Green Tri-Meet.
Alvarado-Reid and the Chippewas will contend for the 2024 MAC Championship title on Saturday, March 23 (2 p.m.) at the MAC Championships, hosted by Ball State.
