Alvarado-Reid Earns Weekly MAC Honors

Luciana Alvarado-Reid has earned MAC Gymnast of the Week for the second time this season.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Central Michigan sophomore gymnast Luciana Alvarado-Reid has earned Mid-American Conference Gymnast of the Week honors for the second time this season, the league announced on Tuesday.
Alvarado-Reid, from Cartago, Costa Rica, and a Gym Stars (Costa Rica) alum, tied her career-best all-around score of 39.525 in the Chippewas' win over Western Michigan on March 15, which serves as the 5th-highest all-around score in CMU history. She first earned the mark on Feb. 24, which additionally earned her MAC Gymnast of the Week honors.
The sophomore earned scores of 9.900 on the balance beam and floor exercise, as well as a 9.875 on the uneven parallel bars and 9.850 on vault.
Through all 11 regular season meets, Alvarado-Reid is ranked 2nd in the league and 45th nationally in the all-around with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 39.335.
CMU Gymnastics finished the regular season 11-8 overall and 4-2 in conference standings. The Chippewas will compete in the MAC Championships, hosted by Ball State, on Saturday, March 23 (2 p.m.) in Muncie, Ind.
