Alvarado-Reid earns MAC Gymnast of the Week

Luciana Alvarado-Reid posts 39.200, two event wins over West Virginia
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Luciana Alvarado-Reid of Central Michigan Gymnastics has earned Mid-American Conference Gymnast of the Week honors, the league announced on Tuesday.
Alvarado-Reid, a junior from Cartago, Costa Rica, was pivotal to the Chippewas' win over power foe West Virginia on Sunday, scoring an all-around score of 39.200.
She scored a season-high 9.925 on the uneven bars and 9.850 on the balance beam to post event wins, as well as scores of 9.800 on the floor exercise and 9.625 on vault.
Through two weeks of competition, Alvarado-Reid ranks 1st in the league and 25th in the nation on uneven bars.
CMU is scheduled to compete against MAC opponent Bowling Green on Friday, Jan. 17 (7 p.m.).
