Gymnastics Bests Bowling Green

The Chippewas post a season high floor rotation and sweep all four events.
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — Central Michigan Gymnastics remains undefeated in the Mid-American Conference after a win over Bowling Green on Sunday.
The Chippewas outscored the Falcons 195.925-193.625 and are now 9-1 overall and 4-0 in the conference.
"Our team was incredibly focused today and we truly enjoyed celebrating each routine together," Head Coach Christine MacDonald said. "It was a fantastic team victory, with everyone including our exhibition performers, bringing their very best."
Sunday's win was led by a 49.275 bars rotation—the second highest team bars score of the season. Senior Luciana Alvarado Reid claimed her 18th career bars title with a 9.900. Graduate student Lia Kmieciak took second in the event with a 9.875 and sophomore Ava Wellmeier posted a career high 9.850 for third.
A season high 49.225 on floor aided the Chippewas' victory. Alvarado-Reid and Wellmeier tied for the title at 9.875—Wellmeier's mark was another career high.

Central Michigan posted a 48.825 on vault. Freshman Paige Hasling competed for her second time on the event and tied with Alvarado-Reid, Kmieciak and Avah Bootz for the title at 9.775.
"Paige has been working really hard in the gym and today she really brought out her practice consistency. Very excited to see her mature and develop into a counting score."
The Chippewas on beam put up a 48.600 score. Alvarado-Reid had a 9.825 and took home her eighth career beam win. Sophomore Zoë Zimmerman claimed third with a 9.750 on the event.
Next up the Chippewas travel to Northern Illinois on Feb. 27 (7 p.m.).
"Our focus remains the same. We have a lot of season left and we are going to take it one meet at a time."
