MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan soccer team will look to extend its win streak and the Chippewa volleyball team welcomes the defending Mid-American Conference champion on Thursday, kicking off a big weekend for Central Michigan Athletics including the homecoming game at Kelly/Shorts Stadium on Saturday.
SOCCER
The CMU soccer team is scheduled to play at Toledo on Thursday (6 p.m.) and then entertains Bowling Green on Sunday, Oct. 17 (1 p.m.) at the CMU Soccer Complex.
The Chippewas are 7-5-0, 4-2-0 MAC and have won four consecutive games. Two of those wins have come in extra time and a third came when CMU scored the game-winner with under a minute to play.
Toledo is 8-4-2, 3-3-0 and Bowling Green is 5-5-3, 4-1-1. CMU is tied for fourth in the league standings, while Toledo is seventh and the Falcons are tied for second. The top six teams in the final standings earn a berth into the league tournament.
VOLLEYBALL
CMU entertains Bowling Green, the 2020 MAC champion, in a pair of matches this weekend. The Chippewas are 8-10, 2-4 after splitting two road matches last weekend. They won in four sets at Kent State and then fell in five at Ohio.
Bowling Green is 10-6 and leads the MAC East at 6-0 in league play. The Chippewas and Falcons open their two-match weekend on Thursday (6 p.m.) and then close on Saturday (11 a.m.). Both games are scheduled for McGuirk Arena.
CROSS COUNTRY
The Chippewas return to the cross country course on Friday when they travel to Peoria, Ill. for the Bradley Pink Classic at Newman Golf Course. The women's race is set to begin in at 2:30 p.m. followed by the men's race.
FIELD HOCKEY
The CMU field hockey team is scheduled to entertain Ohio in a MAC game on Friday (1 p.m.) at Cristy Freese Field.
The Chippewas are 3-9, 1-3; Ohio is 5-9, 2-2.

CMU entertains Toledo on Saturday (3:30 p.m.) in the Chippewas' homecoming game at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. CMU is 3-3, 1-1 MAC after a 30-27 win last week at Ohio. The Rockets are also 3-3, 1-1, and coming off a 22-20 home loss to Northern Illinois.
