MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Central Michigan Women's Basketball announced the signing of Zareia Chevre Wednesday, completing the recruiting process for the 2025-26 campaign.
Chevre comes to Central Michigan from Governors State (IL) as a NAIA All-America first team selection in 2025 after leading the Jaguars to the program's first NAIA Championship Quarterfinals appearance.
"We're super excited to welcome 'Z' to Central Michigan," Head Coach Kristin Haynie said. "She's an all-American, a proven champion, and brings incredible energy and skill to the court.
"Her toughness, leadership and winning mentality will be a huge addition to our family."
The St. Paul, Minn.-native collected two 40-point outings last season, nearly added a third with a 38-point game, two of those games decided by 10 points or fewer, all victories. Chevre averaged 18.8 points over 35 games on a 56.8 percent clip from the field while grabbing 6.5 rebounds per game.
Prior to GSU, Chevre played one season each at NCAA I programs Western Illinois (2022-23) and Monmouth (2021-22). Between the two stops, she appeared in 36 games reaching double-digits in scoring four times across 11 starts as a sophomore at Western Illinois.
The 2020 graduate of Simley High School led the Spartans to a 22-3 record in her senior season, and the school's first state tournament appearance since 2014. Chevre was a three-time all-conference honoree at Simley, amassing a 73-39 record over four seasons.
Central Michigan Women's Basketball returned to the Mid-American Conference Championship tournament for the first time since 2021 in the second season under Coach Haynie. The Chippewas improved by eight wins overall, five in league play from the first to second year, finishing at 14-17 (9-9 MAC).
