YPSILANTI, Mich. — Central Michigan Gymnastics posted a top ten bars event score to defeat Mid-American Conference opponent Eastern Michigan.
The Chippewas are now 7-1 and claimed their second MAC win of the season, the team outscored the Eagles 195.275-192.725.
The win was led by a sweep on uneven bars with a season-high 49.300—tied for the seventh best event score in CMU history. Lia Kmieciak moved into third in the record book with a 9.950 to win the event.
"Lia has been a steadfast bar worker for us over her career," Head Coach Christine MacDonald said. "Today's performance was something she has done repeatedly in the gym. I was very happy to see her find that consistency today! She is one of our all-time best bar workers and she has earned her place in our record books."
Senior Luciana Alvarado-Reid scored a 9.900 on bars to place second and junior Kaitlyn Schwab tied her career high with a 9.850.
"Our bar rotation has been one in the making. We know how great our bar team is and we have really been building into this day."
Central Michigan also swept the top three spots on vault, scoring 48.650. Kmieciak claimed her second event title of the day with a 9.825. Avah Bootz placed second with a 9.800 and Alvarado-Reid finished third with a 9.750.

A 48.424 team total on beam closed out the meet. Junior Zoie Pelfrey placed second in the event with a 9.825.
"This week is all about dialing in the details. We've been improving every week, and we're excited to potentially bring some new faces into the lineup."
The Chippewas are set to host a Pink Out in McGuirk Arena against MAC opponent Kent State on Feb. 13 (6 p.m.).
